Spandrel Glass. Spandrel conceals building components like columns, floor slabs, HVAC systems, wiring or plumbing. Vitro Glass products are available with decorative and full-surface etchings from Walker Textures ® Opaque, Velour and Satin product lines.
Due to heat build-up on the spandrel glass, Manko requires the glass to be heat-treated.
Spandrel glass is used to mask the unsightly building construction material that may be contained within a window opening area(s) so that it cannot be seen from the exterior of the building.
Unlike vision glass, which is meant to be transparent, spandrel glass is designed to be opaque in order to help hide features between the floors of a building, including vents, wires, slab ends and mechanical equipment. Whether it's used in monolithic applications or in insulating glass units, Guardian Deco HT back-painted glass can add uniform color and a visually-pleasing. Applicable on annealed or tempered, Low Iron, clear, and reflective glass products.
